Chris Holland at Hartmoor Gundogs has the patience of a saint and the heart of an angel. He is always helpful, non judgemental, and supportive to the core to both the pup and the human. You couldn't go wrong if you gave him a call.

Another vote for Hartmoor Gundogs, we had our first session today and Chris is great!

Anyone looking for a patient, kind, supportive person to train their Vizsla, we couldn't recommend Chris Holland more highly.

We have recently put into practise the 'STOP' command which has been immensely helpful in harnessing a naturally curious pup. She literally slams the brakes on and stops in her tracks.

We're really enjoying our collective learning journey and are so grateful to Chris for all of his efforts and support.

5 month old Ranulph had his first training session with Chris at Hartmoor Gundogs  today and he did amazingly well. We used the whistle for recall and stop, as well as wait, stay, and drop commands. It was an eye-opening session for me and transformational for us both. Thank you Chris for showing me the potential this easily distracted pup has.

You’ll be really pleased to have found Chris Holland. He'll make you love your dog even more and help you with all the hard bits in the kindest, most patient, encouraging way πŸ™‚ But don't tell him I told you πŸ˜‰

Proper pooped pooch paws on this puppy after a really engaging and massively fun training session this morning with Chris Holland at Hartmoor Gundog Training.

You may remember me posting about our really disempowering 'training' session a couple of weeks ago, well...we found the right guy!

Chris is patience personified, supportive to the core, non judgemental, gentle, listens and is so encouraging to us all.

Wren started to learn to walk to heel. She's flying with recall (this week!) and we learnt together how to achieve sit and stay and 'look at me'.

It's all great fun and so enjoyable with lots of praise and encouragement. She's so eager to please.

We are super grateful to Chris and genuinely feel that in having such a terrible first experience, we have jumped the chasm. My husband said "Well, that was like out of the frying pan into the honey pot".

Couldn't be more grateful and proper proud of Kanga-Wren

Such a great morning with lovely Chris Holland helping us to help Wren be 10 out 10!

We’ve lots to learn, but Chris’s patient and encouraging teaching methods are the boost we all really needed.

Wren is so eager to please (except for the bits where she was eyeing up wood pigeons and pronking in the buttercups!)

Chris’s warmth and humour constantly spilling over to make everyone feel at ease. There’s no tension for her or for us and it’s all thoroughly enjoyable.

We were really proud of this little muppet today and after walking attentively to heel with no lead on right the way back over the field, she just blew it at the last hurdle by chasing a spaniel! Gonk!

You can’t win ‘em all!

Absolutely brilliant session today. Chris was so informative, and gave me some fantastic training methods to work on to get my dog to be a highly trained dog. He made me feel at ease and I came away feeling excited about the training he taught me. He was great with Woody. Woody responded straight away to him. Chis is experienced with vizslas and that reassured me initially before I even booked a session. The session was more than I expected, thank you! Already booked for the next session.

We had a very bumpy start with an unscrupulous dog trainer. We later found out that we weren't alone and after reaching out to other Vizsla owners for support, we found Chris.

Sometimes you have to get things wrong to get them right and this was a wrong we greatly benefitted from because not only were we saved from the sharp side of one trainers critical, judgemental tongue, but we were welcomed with open arms and a positive approach to everything with Chris.

Training at Hartmoor Gundogs is not just an enjoyable learning curve for our pup, it's something we look forward to each time. The positive reinforcement and encouraging approach makes us want  to get it right for our dog.

Chris is patient, supportive, incredibly knowledgeable, warm, funny, a great listener, good at problem solving (though nothing is viewed as a problem) and incredibly enthusiastic about dogs.

He doesn't push us and is aware of things like the dogs learning capacity at a specific age, so is encouraging and creating a route for future aims and goals if he thinks these can't be met now.

He welcomed all of our family and is very responsive to a full family approach to training.

Our family (kids and all) would really recommend Chris at Hartmoor Gundogs. I cannot imagine a scenario where you wouldn't feel supported, encouraged and enthused by his approach. He is such a lovely guy, with a very positive, kind approach which rewards both the dog and owner.

We love our training sessions with our pup and are looking forward to watching her develop with Chris's expert advice and guidance.

We couldn't think of anyone else we'd rather learn with or trust with our puppy.

Chris is helping me with my young German Shorthaired Pointer. Every week I see a difference in her and she looks forward to her sessions. I would highly recommend Hartmoor Gundogs, not just for my dog but for myself too. Chris explains everything so clearly and is very patience with both myself and my dog.

Had some training with my dog erik, chris explained everything clearly that I needed to know and do to help with Erik, really good advice. Chris took his time with me and erik thank you so much for all your advice.

Absolutely can't thank Chris enough for giving us the support to help Alfie with command, lead training, and recall. There was nothing rushed he took his time to understand Alfie needs and ours . Absolutely highly recommended πŸ‘Œ

Professional trainer.

My puppies love their time at training class and have learnt lots.

Always go away with lots of training tips to work with.

Having decided to go down the gundog training route with my pet cocker, I contacted Hartmoor Gundogs and explained what I wanted to achieve. I got a lovely email back from Chris, and I booked an appointment for 121. Chris has an easy manner, he is soft spoken and immediately puts you at ease. The training is relaxed, using positive reward methods. McCoy and I really enjoyed the session, and look forward to working with the methods Chris has shown us. We will not hesitate to book more sessions as we progress, to further enhance McCoy’s potential. One very tired puppy following the session

Had the most amazing day today with my Portuguese Pointer Nina. She is 18 months and I truly thought I never would see her running free through long grass. She is a timid little girl who also has her own agenda. After already having a couple of sessions with Chris and learning so much, today was the icing on the cake. She was running free, recalling and retrieving, it was just the best experience for both of us. So happy I have found Chris who will hopefully share my journey with Nina growing her confidence and becoming the best dog she can be. Thank you so much.

Great session with Chris yesterday.

Worked on focus, heel work, stop whistle conditioning and fixing a broken retrieve among many other things.

Chris is exceptionally patient with both dog and handler.

He pointed out issues with my consistency in certain areas. Something crucial which you would never pick up on yourself.

After putting my newly obtained knowledge into action today, I have already seen positive results.

I look forward to our next session.

Big thanks to Chris!
